Wenger delight at Zagreb victory

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was relieved after his side beat Dinamo Zagreb to record their first win at their new Emirates Stadium home.

Two late goals earned Arsenal a 2-1 victory in the Champions League third round qualifier as
they won 5-1 on aggregate to reach the group stages.

"Not to create a problem, it is better to win," said the Frenchman.

"People would have said 'you cannot win at your new stadium' if we had not won. It is good to get it out of the way."

Wenger admitted his side made an unconvincing start to the match before finding their feet to ultimately hold off their gutsy opponents in comfortable style.

"It is difficult psychologically when you are 3-0 up to go into a game like mad," he said.

"They caught us well and maybe they could have surprised opponents of less quality."

Wenger added: "I felt we had a little bit sloppy start then it became difficult for us.

"When you do not start very well, it is always difficult to come back in a convincing manner.

"We had merit to come back and win the game because in the second half, it was all us."
Dinamo Zagreb boss Josep Kuze felt his side had learned a lot from the experience.

"We came here to do better than the first leg and tried to be more aggressive," he said.

"We went 1-0 up, but then our midfield did not hold the ball and maybe if we had got a second goal, then it would have been different.

"Arsenal, being an experienced team, punished us.

"But although we lost we will go away having made a good impression and hopefully that can now translate into better form in the league as well."
