Wenger wants patience in Hamburg

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hoping for a patient display in Hamburg in the Champions League as the Gunners look to put their poor recent form behind them.

Wenger's team have yet to win in three Premiership games but he said: "I feel this team is one of the strongest squads I have ever had.

"But we need a bit of patience, keep our nerves and find the right balance in our attacking and defending.

"We look strong everywhere, but we are making it difficult for ourselves."

Arsenal reached the final of the Champions League last season, losing to Barcelona in Paris.

Wenger said that it was difficult to prioritise between the Premiership and European competition.

"We want to do well in the Champions League, but the Premiership means a lot to us this season as well," he added.

And the Gunners boss refused to be drawn when asked whether he would accept a defeat at Hamburg if it meant a victory over Manchester United in the Premiership on Sunday.

"We do not trade," he said. "We want to win every game. It is not buy and sell, you want quickly to win.

"To win at Hamburg will give us a stronger chance to do well at Old Trafford."
